There are several ways students may become
involved with the American Rehabilitation Counseling Association Student
Task Force (STF). The
professional student organization allows students to become involve
locally, regionally, and nationally. Please review the following
sections on how to become involved.
Nationally
Students are encouraged to become a member of American
Rehabilitation Counseling Association (ARCA). For only $ 15 per
year, students can enjoy the benefits of ARCA. ARCA membership allows
students the opportunity to grow professionally through presentations at
conferences, the honor of networking with pioneers in the field, a
subscription to ARCA’s professional journal, the Rehabilitation
Counseling Bulletin, and a quarterly newsletter which highlights
activities that are important to rehabilitation counselors and the
profession. After graduation, students are allowed the opportunity to
maintain their student membership rate for one year.

Regionally
Students are also supported by their respected
regions. Each region has a regional representative and an associate
representative able and ready to serve students. Representatives will
serve as the liaison between the respective region’s students and the
STF chair, nominate students for master and doctoral student of the
year, gather accomplishments of students in the respective region, and
play a leading role in the development and recruitment of new members
for ARCA. There are still a
few regions that are not represented, please click on the leadership
opportunities link below for your chance to be a leader in your region:
Leadership Opportunities
Locally
Involvement in college level ARCA student chapters is a great way to be involved
at the local level. If a chapter does not exist at your institution, then
students are encouraged to get a chapter started at their college. ARCA student
chapters offer
a range
of
benefits to their members. While each chapter has its own
approach, most
offer presentations from invited speakers, networking opportunities,
and volunteer opportunities. If you
are interested in joining your local student chapter, please view the current
student chapters list below to see if a chapter exists at your institution. If
there is not a student chapter at your college and you are interested in
starting or re-starting a chapter please view the guidelines for starting a
student chapter below.
